Hi, my name is Rayne, and welcome to The Reading Vine!
I created this space to bring a little bit of peace and happiness—both for myself and, hopefully, for others who may need it.
I know what it’s like when life feels dark and overwhelming, when you doubt your ability to handle it all. That’s why I wanted to create a space where we can remind each other that we are far more capable than we believe. It may sound like a cliché, but I know from personal experience that it’s true.
Why Books?
I found my way to a literary blog during one of my darkest days. I remember curling up on the floor, desperately searching for something—anything—that could bring me a moment of joy. When life feels suffocating, even the simplest tasks can seem impossible, and that is exactly where I was at.
Then, like a lightbulb flickering on—books.
There is nothing more beautiful to me than escaping into the pages of a book, even if only for a little while. Within those pages, we can shed our worries, our burdens, even our own skin, and step into new worlds. We can become whoever or whatever we choose. We can get lost in words that transport us far from the weight of reality.
Our Purpose
I want this blog to be a haven for all of us. A reminder that whatever we’re going through will pass. And if we need to escape for a little while, that’s okay. The laundry, the dishes, the endless to-do lists—they can wait until tomorrow. We can be strong tomorrow. We can face whatever we’re running from tomorrow.
But right now, in this moment, it’s okay to just exist.
So today, let’s pour ourselves a glass of wine, light a candle (or twelve), wrap up in our softest blankets, and close the door on the world—just for a little while.
Let’s Read, Recommend and Review!
This space isn’t just about escaping into books—it’s about sharing them. Here, we can recommend our latest reads, swap favorites, and, most importantly, give our brutally honest reviews. Did a book shatter your soul in the best way? Tell us. Did it waste your time with mediocre storytelling? We want to know that too.
Let’s build a community where we celebrate the books that move us, rant about the ones that disappoint us, and discover new stories together. Because sometimes, the right book at the right time can change everything.
